About Volunteer

About Volunteering in the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services of Florida, Inc. (DHHSFL)

DHHSFL uses volunteers in many capacities to reduce the administrative cost of providing services. Volunteer action is a key part of DHHSFL’s mission and your service can make a huge impact. You may choose to volunteer in one or more of these areas or in other capacities as supervised by one of our DHHSFL staff in the sites you select.

Fundraising – is not about collecting money; it also entails effectively communicating why donation is needed.  We are gathering fundraising for our events and our yearly Wine Tasting & Silent Auction event.

Becoming a Volunteer:

While your application is processed and you are accepted into the DHHSFL, make sure to give a copy of your volunteer form to your school counselor. Your school counselor will give you the form for allowing DHHSFL staff to sign the paperwork to confirm your volunteer hours and dates.  We don’t want to lose you along the way! CLICK HERE to volunteer today. Also, we would like for you to fill out the “Volunteer’s Agreement & Release from Liability” form as well.

Attendance:

Once you are placed in a volunteer position, you become an important part of the DHHSFL team. Please work to arrive on time at DHHSFL. If you do need to be called out during your scheduled time, please contact DHHSFL staff so that other arrangements can be made for the work you were scheduled to do.  DHHSFL staff will give you their contact number. If you wish to cease being a DHHSFL volunteer at any time, please notify Carrie so that she can process your departure appropriately.

A Final Word:

People volunteer for a variety of reasons. Some are seeking skill development – the potential to access certain training. Some are seeking social connection – the opportunity to become a part of a community and make new friends. Some are seeking influence – the chance to make a difference in an area of interest or concern. And some are seeking to affirm the value of their life experiences – what they’ve learned, what they can share – through giving back to others around them.

Whatever the reason you’ve chosen to volunteer, we’re grateful that you’ve chosen to be a part of our community. We look forward to tapping the talents and energy you bring to DHHSFL.

Please enjoy your time with us – and let us know what we can do to ensure that you are… confident, comfortable, and much, much more than content during each and every moment in DHHSFL.
