About DHHSFL

Established in 1983, DHHSFL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving children and adults who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired in Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties. We provide a variety of support services and equipment through our programs and distribution locations.

DHHSFL collaborates with multiple agencies in the surrounding areas to offer a comprehensive approach to meet individual needs, ensuring better health, education, self-esteem, and vocational success.

Located in New Port Richey, our center serves as a distribution site for Florida Telecommunications Relay, Inc. (FTRI), providing specialized telephone equipment free of charge to Florida residents aged 3 years and older with qualifying hearing loss. We also have satellite distribution sites in Brooksville, Dade City, Palm Harbor, Spring Hill, and Zephyrhills to better serve neighboring communities.

Additional services available for the hard of hearing include American Sign Language (ASL) classes, Signing for Everyday Living (SFEL), Vocational Rehabilitation/Employment Services, Advocacy, Free Hearing Screenings, Mental Health Services, and more. Our Mission

To provide the highest quality of services and programs to promote empowerment, equal access, education, independence, and integrity to the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Speech Impaired.

Our Partners

DHHSFL collaborates with community partners to ensure local access to support, equipment, and services. Individuals can receive assistance in the manner that suits them best, whether that’s in person through a local partner or through direct support from DHHSFL staff.

By working together, we can break down barriers and enhance communication with our partners for the best possible outcomes.
